A lot of people from different walks of life answer online surveys from students, to stay-at-home moms to part time workers. The internet has become a great way to answer surveys online and make a little extra money. Some people excel at finding legitimate survey sites and are able to earn extra money easily to finance a better lifestyle. If you need extra money, you should consider trying your hand at making money using online surveys.

Anyone can participate and the requirements are easy. The very first step to take to get paid for taking surveys is to go online and sign up for several online survey sites. There are three basic types of companies that will pay you to answer their surveys.

The first type of site is the database company. Database companies are where you go to find a list of survey websites. The database companies are not the ones that pay you to take surveys. The second type of site is called a mediator site. Marketing companies and product companies use this type of site to gather people to take their surveys. The mediator sites actually handle and process the surveys that each company needs. These types of sites are the ones you want if you want to get paid for taking surveys. The third type are called marketing sites. They provide their own surveys directly to the public and they process them internally. You will have to locate these companies and sign up on their sites. You will have to do some research and find out how they compensate you.

The most popular types that most people sign up for are the databases or survey lists. The problem is that not all of the sites are legitimate.

Many sites will require you to join and pay a fee before you get access to their database of surveys. The database sites and the mediator sites are usually the two that will make you pay a fee to join. Usually it is just a nominal fee and you should never consider paying more than $10 to join any site. You may be able to find another site that has the same data for free.

Remember that the entire reason you are taking surveys is to earn money. You may get lucky and find a few surveys that pay you up to $75 dollars per survey but they are not that common.The most commons rates for answering surveys is between $3 to $10 per completed survey. If you decide to participate in phone surveys or focus groups, they usually pay a lot more. It is not unusual to make as much as $150 to $250, respectively. How often these great opportunities become available depends on the company and your personal profile. You may get several surveys at a time and then you won't get any for a week or more.

The most important key to making money is to be sure that you have chosen reliable and legitimate companies. It will be up to you to research the companies before you sign up so that you can be sure that you will actually get paid for taking surveys from them.
